ICSID will host the 26th AAA/ICC/ICSID Joint Colloquium on International
Arbitration at the World Bank's Eugene R. Black Auditorium, focusing on the
theme of "Adapting Arbitration to a Changing World." Throughout the
day, 18 speakers with diverse backgrounds will tackle the main theme from the
perspectives of: (i) the institutions; (ii) the players; (iii) the issues; and
(iv) the instruments.

International Criminal Law Network invites you to the Fall Lecture at
Wladimiroff & Waling law firm in The Hague. During this lecture we will
discuss the following topic: “The presumption of innocence and its best
friends” What does this mean and where does this leads to. Is the presumption
at risk of being left behind in a rush to do things faster? The reality of
cases and processes in international criminal law that test the underlying
philosophy, and the associated rights and obligations and other best friends
that make up the jigsaw puzzle of the fair trial process. On this topic, we
will be honoured to hear the comments of: Judge Howard Morrison Judge of the
ICTY since Augustus 31 2009 Member of the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges

The Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law Nexus

This course, conducted under the auspices of the GCSP?s new Security and Law
Programme, will take participants through the historical development of both
areas of law in order to convey a real understanding of the underlying basis
for the current and developing nexus. It will deal with the essential
principles that provide the framework for each of these two bodies of law ?
and, importantly, it will trace the relationship between them, focusing ultimately
on the difficult and challenging operational situations that straddle the
overlap between them. The course will be led by Professor Steven Haines, Head
of the GCSP?s Security and Law Programme, who will be the principal lecturer.
Participants will benefit from input provided by leading specialists in the
field based in International Geneva as well as from important organisations
elsewhere. The course fee is Euros 650 or 1,000 CHF. For more information on

Rule of Law Practitioners Course

The Rule of Law Practitioners Course is a five-day foundational course that is
geared towards practitioners working on rule of law promotion in conflict
affected states. Drawing upon on-the-ground experience, lessons learned and
best practice examples from conflict affected states, the course offers a
comprehensive introduction to the rule of law from theory to practical
application. Participants from international organizations, the US government
(military and civilian), foreign governments, national actors from conflict
affected states, the bilateral donor community, academia and the non-profit
sector will have the unique opportunity to enjoy a common learning experience.

Day one will focus on the discourse between public and private actors regarding
the questions when, where and what kind of public supervision on private
international regulation is desirable. The seminar on New International Dispute
Resolution Mechanisms in the Financial Markets will focus on aspects of
international financial regulation and harmonisation of contracts. Furthermore,
the seminar will try to answer the question regarding possible types and
procedural aspects of an international financial dispute resolution body.
Participants will be involved in a discussion on the necessity of establishing
these new instruments. The seminar on Corporate Social Responsibility will
cover the issue of international regulation of private business conduct in the
fields of human rights and environment. Furthermore, this seminar will discuss
the prospects of an international dispute resolution mechanism for business and
